Though photography is primarily a visual medium, Koerfer manages to create compellingly surrealistic imagery which can not only be seen but also felt. The motifs which appear to be products of expert digital compositing are actually created employing techniques of conventional photography alone.

These intriguing multiple exposures embody different levels of visual perception and conceptualisation refracted through the prism of Koerfer's experiences, memories, intuition and inspirations to create a richly textured unit, adding a new dimension of fascination to the familiar and everyday open to the beholder's own interpretations.

The full, fascinating range of Koerfer's work is given regular public exposure in Germany and abroad by means of exhibitions in such venues as Hamburg and Amsterdam. These are always exciting affairs for the fine art photographer who enjoys seeing how the public receives, perceives and interprets his works.

Then to Achim Koerfer, the strength and nobility of humanity lies in its boundless diversity- of experience, of backgrounds, of points- of- view, perceptions, interpretations, needs, fantasies. Every picture is actually a multitude of pictures- then each beholder sees a unique and personal version through the lens of his perceptions, associations and pre- conceptions. And so, one and the same picture is charged with a significance unique to each person who views it.

Social commitment is close to Achim Koerfer's heart. Involvement with relief agencies is one way for the artist to do his bit and try to make a difference. An example of this endeavour is Koerfer's participation in the international project called called ART 4 AID organized by the JCI (Junior Chambers International) of the Netherlands and other sponsors for the benefit of UNICEF.

The proceeds from the auction of the artworks donated by artists worldwide performed by Sotheby's went to finance educational programs for children, then education and knowledge are instruments essential to a humane life and in many cases, to sheer survival. Achim Koerfer's efforts in this vein are very apposite as he has made 'development' the leitmotif of his life- not only with respect to his art.
